Our Story

We’re David and Keely Eccles. We are the owners of Sugarmama’s Baking, The Grassy Cow Catering, and Crema and Bloom espresso and pastry shop in Springfield Oregon. Welcome to our page!

Keely is originally from Manchester, Georgia, and later Las Vegas and Ventura, California. David is born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and spent 12 years living in Santa Barbara County, California. We met in 2008, married in 2009, and in 2012 we moved to Eugene, Oregon to set new roots.

In 2017, our love for food, baking and experimenting led us to decide to take our careers and lives in a new and exciting direction, and in November 2018, Sugarmama’s Baking, LLC was officially launched. In our first full year, we participated in several area festivals, where we made many new friends and contacts, and began to develop relationships with the community, including the City of Eugene, Springfield Chamber of Commerce, University of Oregon, Eugene Saturday Market, and Lane County Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC).

In 2019, we were invited to be the primary onsite food service for the opening of Swallowtail Spirits in downtown Springfield, and successfully operated there until 2021. During that time, we kept ourselves going through COVID by partnering with Lane County, City of Eugene and City of Springfield to provide food services to area shelters and other services.

in 2021, we joined the Lane County Farmers Market, and have been with them ever since. In 2022, we were one of the food service providers at the Riverfront Festival, part of the 2022 World Track and Field Championships, where we served the public, and provided catering to all the entertainment for that 10 day period.

In 2023, we were presented with the opportunity to assume ownership of Crema and Bloom, at 1918 Marcola Rd in Springfield. This afforded us the opportunity to expand our services, including custom baking (cakes, cookies, etc.), as well as expanded catering services. We have never looked back, and are excited for the future.

We specialize in fresh, flavorful foods, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Our espresso and pastry shop features several unique foods to Lane County and Oregon, including our Czech family recipe sweet and savory Kolaches, and Salted Caramel Croissant Buns. Our coffees are second to none, and we’re always offering new monthly drink specials, crafted by our fantastic and friendly staff.
